Top 5 Dog Walks in Atlanta

1.     Piedmont Park

Nestled between Midtown and Virginia Highlands in the heart of the city, Piedmont Park is a great area for taking your pup out for an adventure. Whether you are walking around the pond to check out the birds or checking out the dog parks, you and your pup are in for a treat. Did someone say treat?! While you are in Piedmont Park, check out Sean’s Heart of the Park for a tasty smoothie or treat. Piedmont Park is a choose your own adventure kind of park and there is nothing short of great farmer’s markets and festivals to check out all year round. And don’t forget about the gated dog parks in the Northwest Corner, where your companion can venture off leash.

2.     Westside Park

With nine walking trails on the Westside of the city you can’t go wrong adventuring with your pup whether you are chasing skyline views or overlooking the reservoir. Many of the trails intersect so you can continually make walks new and interesting for you and your dog. Additionally, several of the trails are paved and ADA compliant. With thoughtful city planning, Westside Park is now Atlanta’s largest greenspace and a lovely space to check out with your dog.

3.     Northside Trail

While technically part of the Atlanta Beltline, Northside Trail is a great option if you and your pup want to check out the public tennis courts and/or the golf course at Bobby Jones (did someone say ball?!). This trail connects from Ardmore Park and up to Atlanta Memorial Park in the heart of the Peachtree Battle and Collier Hills neighborhoods. This is a top spot for a sunset walk in the summer since the tree canopy is one of the only structures in sight.

4.     Atlanta Beltline

In the future, the Atlanta Beltline will encircle the entire city with over 30 miles of trails. There are tons of options for getting out on the Beltline with your pup. If you like the East section, there is no shortage of murals to find and photograph or good food and dog friendly patios to enjoy. A few notable options include Rina, New Realm Brewery, Hampton & Hudson, and Lady Bird. If you are interested in the Westside, check out West End, home to Monday Night Garage, Wild Heaven Brewery & Gardens, & Best End Brewing Company. If you like beer or happy hour, you can’t go wrong with a happy hour walk to one of these unique destinations. Lastly, there are tons of coffee shops along the Beltline, so if mornings are your thing check out Dancing Goats at Ponce City Market, The James Room, Inman Perk Coffee, or Cultured South.

5.     Chastain Park

Sitting in the heart of Buckhead, Chastain Park offers not just an amphitheater with awesome concerts, but also miles of walking paths so Atlantans can get out and active with their dogs. Just off Roswell Road, this is a great park to check out with the whole family, human and pet alike.
